rwrylsin: Lego Lisa (procrastination)
So, the game we were introduced to on the weekend was "Betrayal at the House on the Hill". I think some of the board game fiends on my list will enjoy it if you haven't already heard of it.

It's a (mostly) cooperative horror game. The players start by exploring the allegedly haunted house. At a random point The Haunt begins, and we find out which of us is the traitor (who will now attempt to kill everyone in accordance with the given scenario), and what needs to be done to survive and win the game.

I think we had a relatively easy one, and were a bit lucky. The house began sinking into a swamp, we had to find the boat, move it to a point where we could launch it, and get everyone who was scattered around the house into it. Managed it with only one fatality, and one who we chose to assume we resuscitated as they staggered out the door and we hauled them into the boat.

Very good fun, and didn't take exceptionally long either.

Mainspring, Jay Lake - Awful.
Echoes of an Alien Sky, James P. Hogan - Slightly awful, but with redeeming feature.
The Lies of Locke Lamora, Scott Lynch - Very Good.
Pashazade, Jon Courtnay Grimwood - Predictable but fun and a bit different.
Guards! Guards!, Terry Pratchett - Old favourite
Men at Arms, as above.

For non-fiction, I've been dabbling in gardening, philosophy, and real estate.
