In The Gutters
Aug. 7th, 2009 12:14 pmYesterday was a work from home day, as I had a couple of guys coming around to quote for installing leaf-guards on our extensive guttering.
( As always with these things, we learn more about the house. )
Meanwhile, it looks like we'll probably be getting a heat-pump hot water service instead of Solar. With the trees shading the roof virtually all winter and reducing sunlight hours the rest of the time, and the additional costs of getting the system set up and running on our very high roof, it just doesn't seem to make economical or environmental sense. Not even with the tube system.
We'll save the prime roof space, such as it is, for PV panels later on. Heat pump may be less cool (so to speak), but on the upside it is cheaper.
