Alas poor printer...

Looks like I might be in the market for a new printer.
Or at least, "It made loud clunking noises and now it doesn't print most of the page" isn't a description that ever sounds good. I've been through all the DIY options, and as a 2004 printer that's been out of warranty since 2007 I suspect buying a new printer will make more financial sense than taking repair actions any further. (My, they've become a lot cheaper over the last 10 years, haven't they?)
I'll let David have a poke at it as well, but I'm not hopeful. Annoyingly, it currently has relatively new toner cartridges and I replaced the Drum just 18 months ago :-(

So Lazyweb, what's good these days?

I have been using a HP2550n laserjet for the last 9 years, and it does almost all I want. (Duplex printing would have been nice and seems almost standard these days, ditto for a proper feed tray which I didn't want to pay extra for last time).

It needs to be a colour laser printer, networked and play well with Macs, it doesn't need to do photos. My current printer is a big and loud beastie, anything physically capable of sitting on a desk is probably going to be an improvement. I go through toner cartridges every couple of years, so cost of consumables is a significant factor.

I don't have a specific printer to recommend but I do suggest having a look at what they have in Officeworks to give you a base line from which to start looking.
