David's Tech-fu is strong tonight.
I'm sitting at the computer, cursing the Scottish Gas website as it persists in taunting me. Not only do they owe us a great deal of money at the moment from an over-generous direct-debit, but their website which claims to take meter readings that would let me correct their assumed usage doesn't. Or didn't, at least.
I tried many times, but always the reading was "implausibly low" or, if I dropped the leading zero, lacking digits (despite the fact that some meters apparently do only have 4 digits). David comes over to see, and suddenly it takes the electricity reading with no quibble at all!
"Stay there!" I tell him. "Then it will take the gas reading, and you'll think I'm insane but at least it will be in."
Sure enough, it now cheerfully takes the gas reading as well. Only the fact that the number was already in the auto-complete from the last attempt convinces David that I may not have been totally technically inept. I swear that website is smirking.
